Cosmetic procedures, fertility treatment including IVF, most alternative medicine and experimental therapies sit outside the benefit schedule. Complex or specialist cases are commonly referred onward to a university hospital such as Siriraj or Chulalongkorn under the same referral rules.

Thai social security covers the insured employee only; a spouse and children are not automatically included.
