FAQ
Can my passport number serve as TIN?
No. A Thai Taxpayer Identification Number is a separate 13-digit number issued by the Revenue Department, while a passport number changes each time a new booklet is issued. Foreign residents must register for a TIN at their Area Revenue Office before filing or claiming treaty relief.
Should I close my TIN when leaving Thailand permanently?
When you leave Thailand for good, notify your Area Revenue Office to cancel or amend your taxpayer registration and file the final year's return. Closing the registration formally ends the filing obligation and avoids follow-up assessments; the exact form depends on your registration type.
