CCL vs NAATI Translation
The CCL Test is not the same as a NAATI translation. CCL is a points-earning test. NAATI translation is a stamped document service used for visa lodgement. A passed CCL candidate still needs NAATI translations of transcripts, police clearance, and marriage certificates to lodge.

What is NAATI CCL?

Who should sit it?
Applicants for subclass 189 (Skilled Independent), 190 (Skilled Nominated), and 491 (Skilled Work Regional) who need to lift their EOI past 65–95 points.
Pass mark?
Overall score must be at least 63 out of 90, AND each of the two dialogues must score at least 29 out of 45 individually. A single failed dialogue can be re-sat alone within 12 months without redoing the full test, saving both time and the A$894 sitting fee. Both dialogues failed means a full re-sit. NAATI publishes results 8-10 weeks after the test date via the myNAATI portal.
Where is it sat?
Online via NAATI Remote Proctoring, or at test centres in Sydney / Melbourne / Brisbane / Perth. Current fee A$894 (2026).
Validity?
CCL results are valid for 3 years from the test date. The Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect must be lodged before the certificate expires, otherwise the 5 bonus points are forfeited. We recommend sitting the exam 2-3 months before EOI lodgement to allow NAATI's 8-10 week result release window and buffer time for any dialogue re-sit if needed.
