Document types

Power of Attorney, Affidavits and Statutory Declarations, certified true copies of corporate affidavits, parental consent letters for minors, educational documents (transcript, diploma), marriage-related declarations (single-status affirmation), corporate resolutions, bank confirmations, trademark assignments and cross-border property documents.

Thai notary system

Thailand has no state-appointed Notary Public. Instead it uses the Notarial Services Attorney regime under the 2008 Lawyers Council regulation. Licensed attorneys complete a certification course and receive a Council registration number. The Garuda seal is recognised worldwide via Apostille.

Apostille chain

Notarised documents must be Apostilled at Thailand's Department of Consular Affairs to be used across the 127 Hague Convention members, or embassy-legalised for non-members (China, UAE, Myanmar and others). NYC handles Apostille at THB 2,500/document in 2-3 business days.

Online notarisation

As of 2025 the Lawyers Council has not formally adopted Remote Online Notarisation. NYC offers video-recorded notarisation under Louisiana/Virginia RON standards for cross-border clients seeking dual-notary support—you sign on camera and courier the original for the attorney's co-signature.

How it works

  1. 1. Appointment

Walk-in at Silom 09:00-17:00 or send documents via LINE.

  2. 2. ID + documents

Bring original passport / national ID (copies not accepted).

  3. 3. Sign before the attorney

The attorney logs the notarisation and archives your ID scan for 5 years.

  4. 4. Garuda seal + red ribbon

Receive the document with the Garuda seal, red ribbon and registration number.

  5. 5. Apostille (optional)

For overseas use we forward the document to the MFA for Apostille.

FAQ

Do I need to book?

Booking a day ahead is recommended so a Notarial Services Attorney is reserved for your time slot, but walk-ins are accepted from 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Saturday at our Silom office beside BTS Chong Nonsi. Bring your original passport and leave the document unsigned until you are in front of the attorney.

English-only documents?

Yes. Our attorneys hold overseas LL.M. degrees and notarise documents drafted entirely in English, which is what most foreign banks, universities and company registries expect. If the receiving authority also needs a Thai version we can attach a certified translation bound into the same set.

Can you notarise a POA drafted abroad?

If you are physically abroad, sign and notarise the power of attorney in front of a local notary there, then courier the original to Thailand for the Apostille or embassy step. We review the wording before you sign so the Thai receiving authority accepts it, and we coordinate both ends of the chain.

Is Thai notarisation valid in the USA?

Yes. Because the United States has been party to the Hague Apostille Convention since 1981, a document notarised by a Thai Notarial Services Attorney and then apostilled by the Department of Consular Affairs is accepted directly by US authorities without any further consular legalisation.

Amend after notarisation?

No. The notarial certificate attaches to the exact text signed in the attorney's presence, so any change means preparing a fresh document, signing it again before the attorney and obtaining a new certificate. If the earlier version was apostilled you will need a new Apostille as well.
