Practical impact: a Canadian Birth Certificate from Ontario goes to Toronto ODS for Apostille (CAD 16/document, 10 business days mail, or in-person same-day for CAD 60). A federal RCMP criminal record certificate goes to Ottawa GAC (free, 15 business days, or premium 2 days for CAD 35).

Express Entry — CRS, ECA, and 2026 draws

Spousal Sponsorship — Inland vs Outland
If your Canadian partner is a citizen or PR sponsoring you from Thailand, two paths exist. Outland (preferred): apply from Thailand, processed by IRCC Mississauga Case Processing Centre + interview at Manila Visa Office (Bangkok no longer accepts in-person — Manila is the regional hub for Southeast Asia). Outland is faster (12 months average in 2026) and you can travel during processing.
Inland: applicant is already in Canada on a valid Temporary Resident status (Visitor / Student / Work Permit). Includes Open Work Permit (OWP) eligibility from day of submission — applicant can work for any employer while PR is processed. Slower (16-20 months) and applicant cannot leave Canada during processing without risk of dual-intent refusal at re-entry.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) — the +600 CRS bonus
