A valid stamp names the practitioner, states the certification type such as Certified Translator, states the language pair and direction such as Thai into English, and carries the Credential Practitioner Number plus an expiry date, because credentials run on a three-year recertification cycle.
When you receive a translation, do three things: check the direction on the stamp matches the job you ordered, check the expiry date is later than the signing date, and search the name and number in the NAATI Online Directory.
A stamp with no CPN, no expiry, or only a company name is not a practitioner's stamp and carries a real risk of rejection.
