Quick answer

Non-B is issued two ways: 1) Thai Embassy abroad — Single-entry 90 days (THB 2,000) or Multi-entry 1 year (THB 5,000). 2) In-Thailand Change of Visa (requires prior Tourist visa + paid-up capital ≥THB 2M). NYC prepares the 15-item company pack, files at embassy or Chaengwattana, and handles the 1-year extension. THB 12,000.

Non-B categories

Non-B (Employment) — needs Work Permit. Non-B (Business meetings) — 90 days, no WP required. Non-B-A (Investment) — ≥THB 10M. Non-B (BOI) — E-Expert privilege, WP + Visa in 3 hours. Non-B Media — foreign correspondents.

Capital & Thai-employee ratio

Standard companies: THB 2M paid-up + 4 Thai employees per foreigner. BOI is exempt. IEAT is 1:1 inside promoted zones. US Amity companies follow the standard 4:1.

Minimum salary by nationality (Chaengwattana 2025)

Western / USA / Australia / Canada / Japan: THB 50,000/month. Korea / Singapore / HK / Taiwan: THB 45,000. China / India / Middle East: THB 35,000. ASEAN: THB 25,000. Africa / S.America: THB 25,000. Below threshold requires BOI or a special licence.

Digital Work Permit & e-Extension

Since 2024 e-WP and e-Extension are open — file 60 days ahead. NYC's digital pipeline cuts counter queue from 4-6 hours to 45 minutes.

How it works

  1. 1. Corporate file

DBD Kor.3-5 (≤6 months old), latest financial statements, three months of PP.30 and PND.1 (≥4 Thai employees), map and 5-angle office photos.

  2. 2. Invitation letter

Company invitation stating position, salary (≥THB 50K Western / 35K Japanese-Asian / 25K ASEAN) and duties, sealed by the company.

  3. 3. File embassy or Change

Embassy Single 90d (THB 2,000) / Multi 1y (THB 5,000). In-Thailand Change of Visa requires an existing Tourist entry + THB 2M paid-up capital; official fee THB 2,000.

  4. 4. One-year extension

Filed within the last 30 days of the 90-day stamp with the Work Permit, prior-year PND.91 and 3 payslips. Official fee THB 1,900.

  5. 5. Re-entry Permit

Single Re-entry (THB 1,000) or Multi (THB 3,800) before departure — the visa auto-cancels otherwise.

FAQ

Convert Tourist to Non-B in Thailand?

Yes at Chaengwattana — TM.86/87 with paid-up capital ≥THB 2M + 4 Thai staff. Fee THB 2,000, 7 business days.

Work Permit before or after Non-B?

The Non-B visa comes first, because the Department of Employment needs a valid non-immigrant status in the passport before it will issue the work permit book. BOI companies using the E-Expert system are the exception: the visa and work permit are issued together in one One Stop Service session.

What if 90 days expire before extension?

Overstay THB 500/day (max THB 20,000) + 1-year blacklist if over 90 days. NYC files Voluntary Report to reduce penalty.

Do I have to leave for the 1-year extension?

No — extension is filed in Thailand. Only if capital or financials fail will immigration reject and require a fresh embassy application.

BOI Fast-Track speed?

E-Expert online + passport scan at the OSS on floor 18, Chamchuri Square — Visa + WP within 3 hours, 2-year validity, renewable in 2-year blocks.
