Authority of Thai Notarial Services Attorneys

Under Lawyers Act §27(3) an attorney licensed as Notarial Services Attorney by the Lawyers Council may certify signatures, administer oaths, certify true copies and verify documents. When paired with Apostille it substitutes a foreign Notary Public for personal and corporate documents.

Countries that accept

All 50 US states (via Apostille), UK, Canada (some provinces require added legalization), Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Singapore — plus all 126 Hague countries. NYC has 4,000+ historic case references.

Key cautions

1) Never pre-sign — signature must be witnessed 2) Document must be in a language the Notary reads or accompanied by a certified translation 3) Corporate affidavits require a board resolution + company seal 4) Some countries reject affidavits older than 3-6 months. NYC checks destination-country rules upfront.

How it works

  1. 1. Consult + draft review

Send your template or let NYC draft from facts — legal wording checked before printing.

  2. 2. Prep supporting documents

Passport + supporting evidence (house registration, birth/marriage certificates) plus two witnesses when required.

  3. 3. Sign before the Notary

Deponent signs in front of the Notarial Services Attorney at Silom (BTS Saladaeng) or via mobile service (+THB 2,500).

  4. 4. Seal + registry

Notary stamps with the Lawyers Council seal + registry number + ribbon + bilingual Affidavit Certificate.

  5. 5. MFA + Apostille (optional)

Forwarded to the Consular Department + Apostille for overseas use ~ THB 2,500/set. Total delivered in 4-7 business days.

FAQ

How does this differ from a US Notary Public?

A US Notary Public is a state officer; a Thai Notarial Services Attorney is a Bar-licensed lawyer with equivalent authority when Apostilled.

Can it be in English?

Any working language is fine. Our attorneys are fluent in English, Japanese, Mandarin, German and French, and the notarial certificate itself can be issued bilingually so the receiving authority abroad and any Thai counterparty can both read it without needing a separate translation.

Mobile / upcountry service?

Yes. An attorney can travel to your office, hospital room or board meeting anywhere in the Bangkok metropolitan region, and upcountry by arrangement, with travel costs included in the mobile surcharge. This is the usual route when several directors must sign the same set of documents together.

Volume pricing for 5 documents?

Notarising several documents in one sitting is charged on a sliding scale: the first document at the standard rate and each additional document at a reduced rate, which lowers the effective cost per document substantially. All the documents must be signed in the same session before the attorney to qualify.

How long is an affidavit valid?

No statutory expiry — destination-country rules apply. Typical windows: US 6 months, UK 3 months, Germany 6 months, China 6 months.
