Foreigners who change residence within Thailand must file TM28 within 24 hours
When a foreigner changes residence within Thailand (same or different province), TM28 must be filed within 24 hours at the new district/provincial Immigration office, together with the new TM30. Non-compliance = THB 800–2,000 fine and blocks future visa extensions and 90-day reports.

The new residence's owner must file TM30 within 24 hours — that TM30 receipt is required for your TM28
- 2Prepare documents
Original passport + copies + visa + TM6 + new TM30 + lease/proof of new residence + completed TM28 form

Submit at the Immigration office of the NEW district/province (not the old one) — online TM28 is not yet available

Frequently asked questions
Do I need TM28 for a move within the same province?
Yes. The obligation is triggered by changing your place of residence, not by crossing a provincial line, so a move to another condo in the same district still requires notification within 24 hours. The new host must also file a fresh TM30 for the address you moved into.
How is TM28 different from TM30?
TM28 = the foreigner notifies an address change. TM30 = the homeowner notifies the arrival. Both must be filed together.
Do I need TM28 if I stay 3 days at a friend's place?
In practice, no — if your primary registered address (TM30) stays the same. But your friend should still file TM30 as temporary host.
Can I file TM28 online?
Not at present. TM28 must be filed in person at the Immigration office covering your new address, while the online channels currently cover TM30 residence notifications and TM47 ninety-day reports only. Bring your passport, the new lease or Tabien Baan, and the landlord's TM30 receipt.
What happens if I forget TM28?
Fine THB 800–2,000 plus you cannot extend the visa or get a re-entry permit at the new address until corrected.
