What if I forget to get a re-entry permit before leaving?
Your visa is automatically canceled the moment you depart. The entire process must restart from scratch with a new Non-Immigrant Visa from a Thai embassy abroad — no appeal possible.
Is the airport counter available for every airline?
Yes — BKK level 4 (near Row Q), DMK level 3 international terminal, HKT, CNX — open 24/7. Allow 1 extra hour before check-in.
Is Multiple Re-entry worth it?
A Multiple Re-entry permit is worth acquiring if you plan four or more international departures within the remaining validity of your Thai permission to stay. For travelers making only one or two trips abroad during their stay, obtaining individual single re-entry permits is recommended instead of a multiple-entry permit.
Can I apply online?
Not currently. Re-entry permits are issued only in person, either at any Immigration office or at the airport counters in Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, and Phuket before check-in. Bring form TM8, your original passport, a photo, and copies of your visa and entry stamp.
Does the LTR Visa require a Re-entry permit?
No. The Long-Term Resident visa already carries multiple-entry privileges for its full validity, so departures do not cancel it and no separate TM8 permit is needed. LTR holders must still meet their reporting obligations and ensure the host files TM30 whenever they change residence.
